I love this because for people like me who feel overwhelmed with trying to write 60,000 to 80,000 words, getting 10,000 written will be better than nothing.

Best wishes to you, Grant. I can't think of anyone better to be at the helm of a venture like this.

Here's a true story which always brings a smile to this old, wrinkled face. I was in 7th grade when my teacher disrupted our drama class by confiscating a notebook that was circulating. "What's this?! Whose is this?!" He was eyes-bulging, red in the face w/ anger. He flipped through the pages and again yelled "Whose is this!!" I raised my hand & buried my blushing face. He comes to me yelling, "What is this, what?!!" and when I said, "My autobiography," he threw the notebook at me and said, "You're too young to have an autobiography."

That was over 60 years ago. The trauma of it all is buried within, I'm sure, but the recall does cause me to laugh.

Thanks for sharing that, Karen. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I mean how wonderful, to have a student who was writing, telling a story, examining her life. It's so horrible your teacher just didn't get it. There are too many stories like this in the world. Thank you for your encouraging words, and I hope to minimize experiences like yours—or help people recover from them.

We've all got life stories to tell! I think the key thing to remember is that memoir isn't autobiography, but a story about a life event/experience, etc., so it's open to all ages.

yep I was kidding. Dozens of massive hits have been written by virtual teenagers. Less Than Zero comes to mind
