Congratulations to you. Soon begins the Year of the Dragon. This is going to be a whopping big year for you, Grant Faulkner and I for one can't wait to watch it all unfold. BTW, my mother gave me my first lock & key diary in 1959. It was a momentous day!

Best wishes to you.

Did you work at a place called the office of letters and light (I think it was called) somewhere near Here and There? I stumbled into that office out of curiosity one day in the 2010s while on my bicycle and was delighted to find it was connected to NaNoWriMo. A wonderful and encouraging vibe from whoever I spoke with, and a fun painting on the wall. Thanks for directing such a wonderful organization and for inspiring me and so many others to try writing a novel. I believe attempting to write a novel unlocked my dreams in ways I didn’t expect - made me more receptive to books too, and led to some life-changing opportunities, including a summer job climbing trees that I will never forget. Something I had the protagonist in my novel doing, haha! Best wishes in your exciting new adventures and I hope to be able to check out your TV show and 100 Word Story!

Yes, somewhere near Here and There (across the street)! I'm so glad you had a good experience at our wacky little offices and that you ... climbed a tree and wrote a novel! Thanks again for your kind words!

The lock and key part you wrote about resonated with me. Genuine connection is such good fuel. This part you wrote inspires me: “The more I experienced NaNoWriMo, the more I experienced how unlocking one’s writing is an important part of writing—that by sharing our vulnerabilities, our truths, we connect with others, and in those connections, we are nourished and fueled (and even protected).” Grateful for this forum to be able to read, write, and connect with some majorly inspiring folks.

Congratulations Grant, and good luck! Proud to have “won” nanowrimo once under your directorship. Without it, I doubt my first memoir would exist.
